14 miles off Concho Highway down several dirt roads you come to Rancho Escargot home of Carol’s Delectables. What started as an untouched expanse of Arizona high desert now displays over 500 trees, 300 of which are fruit.
After a couple of years of making jellies and canning fruit for Christmas presents Carol’s Delectables was born. From soil to jar we’re involved in every aspect of our products. It’s definitely a labor of love. From our orchard we pick a large variety of apples, pears,peaches,plums and cherries, our vineyard provides us grapes.
We built our commercial kitchen nestled in the middle of all the trees where we can process out fruits as they come off the trees. Although not certified organic we follow strict standards in our orchards. No pesticides are ever used. We want to pass on to our grandchildren a pristine environment that they can enjoy the fruit for years to come.
For our citrus jellies and marmalades we gleam fruit from many of our long time friends and clients in the Phoenix area. We also pick at peoples homes that either can’t use or don’t want their citrus. In exchange for their fruit we give the homeowner jelly which lets us pick at full ripeness and they get something in return, jelly and a cleaner yard. We hope this also helps to make a dent in the over abundance of citrus that is dumped in our landfills each year.
